Prerequisites
Before we get started, make sure you have:
- The PowerPoint app installed on your Android device. You can download it for free from the Google Play Store.
- The PowerPoint presentation file open on your device that you want to add media to. You can access files stored locally on your device or from cloud storage like OneDrive or Google Drive.
- The video or image files saved on your device that you want to insert.
Step 1: Open the PowerPoint File
Launch the PowerPoint app on your Android device and open the presentation file you want to add media to. Tap on the file if it’s stored locally or select it from the Recent files section.

You can also open a file from OneDrive or Google Drive by selecting it under the Open option.
Step 2: Navigate to the Insert Tab
Once your presentation is open, navigate to the slide where you want to add the video or picture.
Tap on the Insert tab at the top. On some Android devices, you may need to tap the three-dot menu icon first to access the Insert option.

Step 3: Select Video or Picture
Under the Insert tab:
- Tap on Video to insert a video from your device’s gallery or camera.
- Tap on Picture to insert an image file saved on your device.

Step 4: Choose the Video or Picture
You will now see the media gallery on your Android device. Browse and select the specific video or picture you want to insert.
To insert a video:
- Tap on the video file to add it. Supported formats include .mp4, .mkv.
- Alternatively, tap Camera to directly capture a new video using your device camera to insert.
To insert a picture:
- Tap on the image file to add it. PowerPoint supports common formats like .jpg, .png, .gif.
- Tap Camera here as well to capture a new photo with your camera to insert instead.

Review your selection and tap Insert or Choose accordingly.
Step 5: Position the Media
You will now see the video or picture inserted into your PowerPoint slide.
To position or resize it:
- Tap and hold on the media file and drag it to the desired location on the slide.
- Pinch/stretch with two fingers to resize it smaller/bigger.
- Tap the media to access the formatting options from the toolbar at the top.

Step 6: Play the Video (Optional)
If you have inserted a video into your PowerPoint slide:
- Tap on the video thumbnail to play it back.
- Tap again to pause playback.
- Drag the slider to scrub through the video timeline.

Step 7: Save the Presentation
Once you finish inserting one or more media files into your presentation and finalizing all slides, save your changes.
Tap on the Save icon on the top bar to save the PowerPoint file with the videos/images now embedded.

Additional Tips
Here are some additional tips when working with media in PowerPoint for Android:
- You can insert videos from external cloud storage like OneDrive or Google Drive as well. Just select the storage service under the Insert > Video path.
- To delete an inserted video or image, tap and hold on it and select Delete from the pop-up menu.
- You can record videos directly from the PowerPoint app by tapping Insert > Video > Camera. Useful for quick video commentaries!
- For inserted videos, use the Playback option in the Format tab to set it to play automatically or when clicked.
- For images, you can replace an existing inserted picture with a new one using the Change Image option.
