Google Slides makes it easy to link between slides within the same presentation or to another presentation entirely. Linking slides allows you to create an interactive, non-linear presentation that flows according to the needs of your audience.
Whether you want viewers to be able to navigate slides out of order or link to another presentation for more details, linking slides takes just a few clicks. Here’s a step-by-step guide to adding hyperlinks in Google Slides on desktop and mobile.
Link to Another Slide in the Same Presentation
Linking to another slide in the same Google Slides presentation creates an interactive presentation. Follow these steps:
- Open the Google Slides presentation and select the slide you want to link from. This will be the slide the hyperlink is added to.
- Highlight the text or object you want to be clickable. This will show a pop-up toolbar.
- In the toolbar, click the Link button (it looks like a chain link).
- In the window that opens, switch to the Slides in this presentation tab.
- Find the slide you want to link to and select it.
- Click Apply to add the link.
The text or object you selected is now hyperlinked to that slide. When presenting, clicking it will send the viewer to the linked slide.
Link to a Specific Section of a Slide
You can also link to a specific text box or image on another slide:
- Follow steps 1-4 above to open the linking window.
- On the slide you want to link to, select the text box or image you want to jump to.
- At the bottom of the linking window, check the box next to Link to a specific section of the destination.
- Click Apply. Now when clicked, the link will jump directly to that object on the slide.
Link to Another Google Slides Presentation
To link between two different Google Slides presentations, follow these instructions:
- Have both presentations open. Follow steps 1-3 above in the presentation you want to link from.
- In the link window, switch to the Slides in other presentations tab.
- Click Browse to select the other presentation.
- Choose the specific slide you want to link to.
- Click Apply.
Now clicking the link will open the other presentation and take the viewer directly to the chosen slide.
Link to a Website or Document
You can also link out to web pages and other documents stored in Google Drive:
- Follow steps 1-3 to highlight text and open the linking toolbar.
- Switch to the Web page or file tab.
- Enter the web address or browse Google Drive to choose a file.
- Click Apply to create the link.
Add Links on Mobile
The Google Slides mobile app makes it just as easy to add links between slides or presentations:
- Open the presentation and tap the slide you want to add a link to.
- Highlight the text or object to be linked.
- Tap the linking icon (two chain links).
- Choose another slide or presentation to link to.
- Tap Apply to add the link.
Now your presentation has clickable links between slides or to other files and web pages. Linked slides transform a boring slideshow into an interactive, dynamic presentation.
