Screen sharing a PowerPoint presentation in Zoom allows you to conduct engaging and interactive meetings and webinars. With just a few simple steps, you can share your slides and deliver polished presentations seamlessly over Zoom.
Step 1: Open Your Presentation in PowerPoint
First, open the PowerPoint presentation you want to share on your computer. Make sure to have the file ready before joining the Zoom meeting.
Once your presentation is open, you may want to start the slideshow to preview how it will look. To do this, go to the “Slide Show” tab and click on “From Beginning” or press F5.
Step 2: Join the Zoom Meeting
Next, launch the Zoom desktop client and join the meeting where you’ll be presenting. Make sure your microphone and camera are enabled as desired.
If you haven’t used Zoom before, you’ll need to sign up for a free account at zoom.us. The desktop app can also be downloaded from the Zoom website.
Step 3: Click on Share Screen
When you’re ready to present your PowerPoint slides, click on the “Share Screen” icon located at the bottom toolbar in your Zoom window.

Step 4: Select Your PowerPoint Window
A window will pop up showing all the currently open applications and screens you can share. Select the window that shows your PowerPoint presentation. Make sure you pick the specific PowerPoint window otherwise other open windows and apps may also be shown.
If you don’t see the presentation, minimize the pop-up window and go back to your slides. Click on the Zoom window to bring the sharing options back up.
Step 5: Click on Share
Once you’ve selected the PowerPoint window, click on the blue “Share” button at the bottom right corner.
Your presentation should now be shared with the meeting and visible to all participants!
Step 6: Deliver Your Presentation
You can now deliver your presentation as normal while in slideshow mode. Use keyboard shortcuts or on-screen controls to navigate through your slides.
Press the left or right arrow keys to move between slides. Make sure you select the presentation window first before using keyboard controls.

Share Only a Portion of Your Screen
If you only want to share the slideshow without other open windows and apps, go to the “Advanced” tab in the sharing options and select “Portion of Screen”. You can then select and resize the portion you want to share.
Use Presenter View (Dual Monitors)
For the best presentation experience, use dual monitors to share slides while viewing notes and controls on your screen. Activate PowerPoint’s presenter view before sharing.
Share Computer Audio
To share audio and video clips within your presentation, check the boxes next to “Share Computer Sound” and “Optimize Screen Sharing for Video Clip” in the sharing options.
Allow Participants to Share
As the host, you can allow meeting participants to also share their screens by enabling screen sharing in your Zoom settings or via in-meeting controls.
