How to Hide Slides in Google Slides

Google Slides is a popular presentation software that allows users to create visually engaging slideshows. When creating presentations, you may end up with some slides that contain information relevant to you but not your audience. Rather than deleting these slides entirely, Google Slides gives you the option to simply hide them.

Hiding slides allows you to keep information handy for your own reference without distracting your audience. In this guide, we’ll cover two easy methods for hiding slides in Google Slides.

Why Hide Slides in Google Slides?

Here are some common reasons you may want to hide slides:

  • The slide contains notes or research details irrelevant to your audience.
  • You created extra slides you decided not to use but may want later.
  • You have multiple versions of a slide but only want to show one variation.
  • The presentation contains sensitive information you only want certain viewers to see.

By hiding slides instead of deleting them, you keep all your hard work handy without overloading your audience.

Method 1: Hide Slides by Right-Clicking

The quickest way to hide a slide in Google Slides is by right-clicking. Follow these simple steps:

  1. Open your Google Slides presentation and select the slide you want to hide in the left sidebar.
  2. Right-click on the slide.
  3. Select Skip Slide from the menu.

The slide will now display a crossed-out eye icon, indicating it is hidden. To unhide the slide, repeat the process and deselect Skip Slide.

You can hide multiple slides at once by holding Ctrl while clicking to select slides before right-clicking. This method also works for unhiding multiple slides.

Method 2: Hide Slides from the Menu

You can also hide Google Slides without right-clicking using the slide menu:

  1. Open your presentation and select the slide to hide.
  2. Click Slide in the top menu.
  3. Choose Skip Slide.

The selected slide will show the crossed-out eye icon and will not display during presentation mode.

To unhide a slide using the menu, repeat the process and choose Unskip Slide.

Hide Sections of Slides

To hide a section of consecutive slides:

  1. Click the first slide you want hidden.
  2. Hold the Shift key.
  3. Click the final slide in the section to select the full range.
  4. Right-click and choose Skip Slide.

All slides between the selected beginning and end will remain hidden until individually unhidden.

Print Hidden Slides

By default, Google Slides does not print hidden slides. To print slides you have skipped:

  1. Click File.
  2. Select Print.
  3. Check the box for Include skipped slides.
  4. Click Print.

Now your printed presentation will include the hidden slides.

Hide Slides in Presentation Mode

During slideshow presentations, Google Slides will automatically skip hidden slides. Only slides not marked as hidden will display.

To hide and unhide slides with a presentation remote:

  1. Open your slideshow in Present mode.
  2. Press “B” on your keyboard to turn the screen black.
  3. Press right/left arrows to navigate to the hidden slide.
  4. Press any key to make the screen visible again.
  5. Click the crossed-out eye icon to unhide that slide.

Hide Slides on Mobile Devices

The Google Slides app allows hiding slides from Android and iOS devices:

On Android:

  1. Open the Google Slides app and select your presentation.
  2. Long press the slide you want to hide until a blue frame appears.
  3. Tap the 3-dot menu.
  4. Choose Skip Slide.

On iPhone/iPad:

  1. Open your presentation in the Google Slides iOS app.
  2. Swipe left on the slide you want to hide to reveal the menu.
  3. Tap Hide Slide.
