PowerPoint 2003: Inserting, Copying, and Deleting Slides

  • To insert a new slide, click the “Insert New Slide” button (or press Ctrl+M). This inserts a slide after the current slide.
  • You can choose from different slide layouts like Title and Text, Title and Clip Art, etc. when inserting a slide.
  • Slides can also be inserted from external PowerPoint presentations using the “Insert > Slides from Files” menu option.

Copying Slides

  • To copy a slide, right-click its thumbnail in the slides pane and select “Copy”.
  • Then right-click where you want to paste it and select “Paste”.
  • You can also click-and-drag a slide thumbnail to copy it.
  • Copying slides retains the original slide’s formatting by default. The “Keep Source Formatting” paste option can be deselected to use the destination presentation’s formatting.

Deleting Slides

  • To delete a slide, right-click its thumbnail and select “Delete Slide”.
  • You can delete multiple slides by Ctrl+clicking to select them first before deleting.
  • Deleting a slide completely removes it from the presentation.

The Slide Sorter view makes it easy to see all slides as thumbnails and insert, copy, delete multiple slides at once.
